Find the Perfect Wedding Invitation Without Having to Worry About the Price Tag.

By admin | September 4, 2011

With wedding costs spiralling upward every year, many couples look for ways to work within a budget and save money whilst still having the wedding day of their dreams. One of the major ways to save is surely in having affordable wedding invitations. Possibly the least expensive invitations are those created on a home computer, especially if someone has a dab hand at Photoshop or similar software. A simple design, however, and a regular word processing program will work as well.

Decide before starting just how many invitations will be needed and if a response card is really necessary. Many people these days may just as soon respond by email, text message or telephone if given the option. Just eliminating the card will save on printing, extra envelopes and the postage required, which would be lost even if some people never returned the cards. Remember that the number of people on the guest list do not mean that many invitations are needed. A family of three or four, for instance, needs only one invitation, so take that into consideration when counting.

Ideas and Supplies

Many stationary and office supply shops offer lovely paper that is blank on one side to use in printing and affordable wedding invitations. Kits are also available with envelopes included. A benefit of designing and making invitations beyond saving money is that they will be one-of-a-kind bespoke creations to add a distinctive touch to the special day. Craft shops and art shops offer excellent ideas and products to use and will have a variety of colours from which to choose.

For a smaller, less formal wedding, simple 4 x 6 cards printed or even hand written are a nice choice. The cards can be decorated with a bit of ribbon, seals or sparkles. If someone is a hand at calligraphy, so much the better. Insert the cards in envelopes and simply post them. Be sure they are sent in plenty of time for guests to respond.

If creating affordable wedding invitations at home is not desirable, a quick Internet search will reveal many businesses that offer invitations that will not be too dear. When requesting the price information, be sure the final cost includes shipping and handling. Ask the turnaround time and the policy on correcting any possible errors, as well.
