Taking It’s Rightful Place In Aviation History
By admin | April 10, 2009
For an aviation history buff like myself, learning about the rare Piper Colt was quite interesting. This two-seater had a rather small engine and possessed only 108 hp. It was in production for four short years: 1960-1964. Approximately 2,000 of this model were created. This aircraft was one of two, the other being the Tri-Pacer, that were produced with high wing tricycle undercarriage and were the last two airplanes constructed with fabric covering and metal tubing. Even though there were not many of this little dynamo, it has left a lasting impression. I was surprised and thrilled to learn that some in proper working condition can still be located.
