Reasons why most sports sectors are failing

By admin | September 3, 2011

Imagine a scenario where something good is discovered and it could be of benefit to thousands of people. At first it would be expected that all people will work together so that they can benefit from the discovery. Over time some individuals get greedy and they decide that sharing of a discovery with everyone is not such a good idea. This scenario paints a perfect picture of the circumstances that have led to the failure of many sports sectors in different countries. Sports have grown to be tourism boosters and high income earners for many countries but instead of the activities bringing benefits to many people they have brought nothing but frustration. In the pretence by sports psychologists to improve the performance of sportsmen in many countries, large amounts of money have been lost through unclear circumstances. A familiar picture which is seen on the media day in day out is that of sports officials constantly battling over positions in governing bodies for various activities. Audiences can easily be fooled into thinking that most of these officials are battling for the seats so that they can be of help to a country’s sports industry. The sad truth is that the fight over seats in the sports bodies are seen as opportunities for officials to embezzle funds that are meant to provide mental training to all sportsmen. Sportsmen are left to suffer with no adequate training facilities and with little financial backing to speak of. It is no wonder that developed countries are making efforts to buy the services of sportsmen who are mistreated in their home countries and their talents are not fully appreciated. Perhaps we need to re-think our approach to this situation.
