Play Kitchens and Child Directed Play

By admin | November 1, 2010

I have noticed that every time my children invite me to play with them in their play kitchen they take the lead. It is such a ray of sunshine to see them so poised and confident; and enjoying the opportunity to boss me around. Their play kitchen affords them situations where they are in control. I remember one time we played that we were in the kitchen of a very famous restaurant; I was the dishwasher and they were the chefs. They were very good bosses but enjoyed telling me to wash the dishes and hurry up because table four needed their forks. I am such a fan of play kitchens because they encourage kids to play and through play to develop self confidence and imagination.
